be unique- be you!

This week 17th-23rd June is #Chromosome Disorder Awareness Week, this is a yearly event run by Unique and this current week is the 5th of its kind. Each day has a different theme to help people get involved and spread awareness. Starting today with Selfie Sunday! Snap and share a pic of your child (or yourself if you're an adult with a rare chromosome disorder) followed by Motivating Monday, Telling Tuesday, Warrior Wednesday, Thankful Thursday, Funday Friday and Support Saturday.

There are Facebook banners and profile frames available and simply adding these to your profiles can help raise awareness. There are downloadable cake flags & cupcake toppers for anyone wanting to bake cakes, a Gene the Bear colouring competition and dress down (or up) its all good fun!

But on a serious note Unique provide free support for families & individuals, listening ears and sympathetic presence and understanding when people need it most, often at or just after receiving a diagnosis of a rare chromosome disorder or an autosomal dominant single gene disorder. But also if ever you have any questions or concerns throughout your journey. More info can be found on their website

Our model Lois and her family have been members of #Unique since Lois was very small, her family have found immense support and advice over the years from Unique and its families, they have met amazing people across the world via the support groups and other families with the same or similar conditions, giving Lois' parents positivity and hope at various stages of worry throughout her life.

Lois through her success as a model and the support of #Zebedee is now giving others hope by proving that having a disability does not hold you back. Lois was invited by Unique to help kick off this weeks event by doing a self tape, they feel she is inspiring to both children and adults with her achievements and they love her positive attitude and happy smile.

Just have a look at her in this lovely video!
